During a recent monitoring visit to one of the National Education Foundation's (NEF) Community Model Schools on the peripheries of Islamabad, the lack of basic classroom resources was hard to ignore. The school, like many others in these communities, serves children who are already navigating multiple barriers to education. The need was simple: chairs for the children. The amount required, however, felt anything but simple.

The NEF team came together, reached out to people, shared the appeal, contributed, and kept pushing until the target was reached. Today, 250 chairs have been delivered to the school.

What makes this most meaningful is that it wasn't just about raising money it was about a team taking ownership of a problem they encountered in the field and deciding not to walk away from it. This is the spirit that makes community work meaningful: seeing the gap, taking responsibility, and finding a way to bridge it.

NEF extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone from the NEF team who contributed in any way, and to everyone outside the organisation who trusted the cause enough to support it. There is a lot more work to do across NEF's Community Model Schools and within the Non-Formal Education space  but today, 250 children have a chair to sit on while they learn.
